Here
is the steel subframe for the hood. It helps with support for
the hood. We found latches and extensions pistons that will work,
along with about 50 ft of 1 inch box tubing. The hood will pivot
from the front and use suv rear tailgate pistons to help raise
the 6ft wide 150lb+ hood. The supports include backing plates
for the side latches.
We permanently mounted the front hood hinges to the front bumper,
installed gas shocks to aid in the tilt nose and the installed
latches with pins. We rolled it out of the garage and drove it
around a while. With the hood attached, its becoming a real truck.
We
finished welding the hood subframe, welded the sides on the front
bumper, trimmed the rear edge of the hood to the cowl and fabricated
a set of latch cable hardware sets for the double hood latch. We
sent the hood off to the body shop.
