WORKING ON THE DRIVETRAIN |
We
started sizing up the truck for wheels and tires. One good piece
of advice is that 15" rims will not fit on a new style 2000
chevy truck. The brake calipers in the rear are too large. |
The
rear floor was remade and welded into place. The engine compartment
was cleaned and prepped. The stock chevy pickup dash board supports
are fitted into the passenger compartment. To retain the stock
dash, the steering column will be located a couple inches to the
right of center with regard to the seat. The brake and gas pedal
were prepped for installation, including modifying the brake pedal
to fit. |
The
stock gas tank was fitted with a rear mount gas filler, and the
stock gas filler was plugged. The stock antilock brake module
was cleaned and reinstalled. The body was placed on the frame
permanently. |

The
rear quarter panels were trimmed to fit and installed. A tubular
steel radiator support was made and installed. It will be fitted
for the electric fan and ac condensor eventually. The wiring was
installed in the dash support, and the bulkhead connector was
passed through the firewall. The heater box was fitted and installed.
The a/c brackets and hoses were test fit. |

The
front bumper needed to be moved down to properly fit the hood.
We had enough space on top of the radiator support to drop the
bumper 3 inches. We also finally got the truck running. A couple
missing ground wires were found and vvvrrroomm. Starts and runs
like a new truck. Now we need to work on brakes, (and windhield
too)

Here
are some pics before we moved the front bumper down. Its coming
along nicely. |
